Absolutely! I wasn't suggesting you were omitting other groups, just had to add my two cents (as always). Damn those word limits!

I don't know either, Monika. It sounds terrible, though, you're right.

As for your last point, I couldn't agree more. Unfortunately I decided to limit this piece to race, given the word limit. Of course, we can expand that list, too, to include fat women, older women, lesbian women, and so on, who all experience violence differently.

Great article. Why does the Gateway change 'women' to 'females' I wonder? I notice they did this in the first paragraph.

It feels like "cop talk" or like we are the subjects of some sort of anthropological study!

Anyhoo, I agree that two weeks isn't enough. It is a start, but this needs to be in our consciousness 24/7.

I might also add that transwomen and women with disAbilities are also at increased risk for violence.
